Tetris Case Study
Company History
Tetris was created by Alexey Pajitnov, a programmer. He was inspired by another game called Pentominos, and brought Tetris to life in 1984. The name came from the different pieces each having four blocks, combining the Greek word “tetra” and “tennis” which is his favorite sport.
The idea behind Tetris is to be able to create order out of chaos, just like the real world. When we shop or want to organize something around the house, we tend to think about how each piece will fit as to not take up a ton of space. This is called the Tetris Effect.
Logo Sketches
All ideas start with pencil and paper, they don’t need to be perfect but it helps to get our ideas down. The various ideas I created, implemented blocks within the logos. I wanted to include the game within the logo, while the other ideas have a more modern look.
Sketches into digital
From pencil and paper to stylus and drawing tablet, I wanted to turn some of my ideas into digital works. This way, I can see which design would fit the company more and whether I should have color or black and white.

Additional Comments
All Tetris blocks in the revised logo, background on the webpage, and the company history image were created from myself.
